Not sure what it is, but i have recently come into a problem with my drives.
I have a normal dvd-rom and a dvd/cd burner, and its odd, i have changed out
my ide cable. It seems my drives will read nothing but dvds, my games and
cd-roms all come up as blank cds. I have cleaned the lenses as well, anyone
with an idea as to what the problem is would be greatly appreciated.

If there are 2 devices on one ide cable (sounds like it) you need to get
an 80-conductor ide cable--not the 40-conductor one. Should clear right up.

But why would they work normally for so long with the ide cable i'm using
now?

Dunno the answer to that, but I've had problematic systems brought to me
for repair, and all I found they needed was the 80-cond. cable. Customers
emphatically claimed they had been working error-free for a year+/-. In
these cases(no pun intended), it involved 1 hd on the same cable with a
cd-burner. My hopes, for you, would be such a simple, low-cost solution.

A quickie might be to simply remove present cable from one of the 2
devices--ensuring other is jumpered as master. s

Hmmm let me try that, i just have the 1 IDE cable to both drives and then to
the motherboard. I have a seperate one for my Master HD and my Slave HD is
Sata so :)

I'm gonna try that now.

Ok i have removed one cd rom drive from my pc, changed the one in my pc to
master and hooked it up by itself. Gives me the same error message when i
try to autoplay any of my games and still runs dvd's just fine.

It says "the cd rom isnt formatted to run in windows or may be corrupted"
Yet some of my games i can manually run and it still reads them from my cd
rom >.<
