Can anyone help

Hi,

First, try and maintain your virus scanner and update it
regularly and do manual scans periodically too.

You will need to go to the device manager and remove the
DVD and CD players from there and reboot. The computer
should automatically detect new hardware and set up both
devices with XP's generic drivers.

Also, look in the bios to see if both devices are auto
configured.

If the above does not work you may need to physically
disconnect the devices and reboot without them connected.
Then shut down the computer and reconnect them again.
Restart the computer and get into the bios and see that
they are both Auto configured there, if they are exit the
bios saving the changes, if not, set both to auto detect
and exit as above.

You could also try using system restore but you might
actually reinfect your computer if your not careful.
