DVD Burning

I am using Windows XP home edition and I have a Sony DRU 510A burner. I use
DVD shrink and Nero special edition burning software. My problem is the DVD
I burn into the hard drive of the computer plays great in my powerDVD
program but when I use the disc in my DVD player to watch it on the TV I get
90% through the disc with excellent quality but the further I go like that
last 10 minutes of the movie I get freezing and pixels to the point I am
unable to see the end of the movie.

I am being told that the problem is XP and that I should be using Windows
2000.

I love Xp and want to keep it does anyone else have this problem. I am using
Maxell blank DVD's so I don't think it is a quality issue.

I am also shrinking (compressing) the movie the to 3 so I am only using
about 75 or 80% of the disc.

Any ideas and help would be appreciated.

.You are using Shrink 3.1.2
1. Open Your Disk
2. Select Reauthor the Disk
3. Click on "Main Movie" Title File Drag over to DVD
Structure area. Set Start and End Frames by(Same area
tool bar)Clicking on the Icon and select OK
4. Select Compression Settings Tab and uncheck anything
Spanish, French, etc.
5.Backup! Copy to hard Drive. Uncheck the Create
Video_TS and Audio_TS (all it does when checked is put
each in separate folders) this way they are together in
one as one.
6. Select OK it backs up to Hard Drive, when complete
put it on your DVD blank

I use the same combination (Shrink + Nero) with XP Pro and they play fine.
Have you tried the discs in a different (set top) player? I'd certainty try
to do that before I spent a lot of time trying other things.

As the DRU 510A is a dual format burner have you tried both formats?

A couple of sites you might find useful.

BTW with DVD Shrink I find that removing subtitles and alternate audio
tracks for languages which I don't speak improves the final compression
significantly. You might also try the "deep analysis" function to improve
compression quality.
