I am using VistaU and would like to use something other than Nero. Nero is
just so over bloated. Any suggestions on a good quality CD/DVD software
solution?

I prefer Nero, and it's very easy to custom install without the bloated
apps. I've been able to use Nero 6+ updated on Vista every build for
almost two years. LOL the hardest part was to look them up and see if I
had any reason to want any of them--using Nero's site or google. With a
custom install, you can stop them from installing. Roxio ECDC 9 works fine.

Sonic works fine. There are many competent free ones. I think most of
them offer free trials for 30 days but I'm not sure if they are full
functionality. Check it out.

Sony has new DVD burning software out this week with an interesting drag and
drop interface. Did you know that Vista has DVD burning software?

Chad, I have a new home built system (3 days now). I installed a Samsung
DVD and it came with Nero 6.6.0.19d with a Samsung OEM label. It doesn't
work with Vista. How does your Nero 6+ differ from what came with my DVD
writer? If I go to the store and buy Nero 6+ will it work? Will the box
say compatible with Vista?

DEpends what you want to do. Deepburner is a nice quick'n'easy.

I am using Roxio Easy Media Creator but do not load the Drag to Disk
because it is not compatible with Windows Vist Ult copying and moving
files to a CD/DVD-RW
