I am curious to know if DVD burners have any backward compatibility with
CD's i.e. being able to read them, and even burn a CD?
Thanks for any replies.
I think they all do , I cant think of any that cant. Well maybe if
there are still some DVD ram only burners around maybe they cant
but all the ones Ive seen recently can. I have a Ricoh (sold under
various names Memorex, HP etc ) that can do the usual - DVD , DVDrw
CDR and CDRW.
The thing is if you are thinking of using only a DVD burner for
everything thats certainly possible but Id still get a cheap CD burner
which you can often find rebated for $19 or so. Why? Do you really
want to use your $120-250 DVD burner to play games, listen to music
and burn a gazillion CDRs in addition to burning DVDs?
Id rather have my $19 CD burner wear out than my DVD burner.
