I do not know what rpm my hard disk has, but I heard that the best options is
7200rpm for dvd burning. Is it true?

Not necessarily speed along, but space for storing and copying the content
to DVD. I recommend no more than a 1.8 Ghz processor minimum 512 of RAM.

Hello Duosorio...to make a DVD-Movie you need a 7200-rpm Hard-Drive...I have
a Dim.2350--it was Shipped w/a 5400-rpm HD...and a CD-writer...I removed the
CD-writer and installed a DVD-writer...PLUS...purchased a New
HD-120GB...MAXTOR...DVD-files are about 9-GB as they are stored prior to
Burning...which will ComPress them to about 2.70-GB...on a 4.7-GB Disk...most
times I have several versions for one of my Musical Slide
Shows(Mpeg-2)+(MP-3)...there will be up to 27-GB stored until I choose my
Final Burn...which will be about 2.70GB's...if I go over a((onehour))running
slide show there are some problems...I will usually make a 50-minute Musical
SlideShow--No Problems...but have gone 1-hour--13-minutes...my software
"wonder's" what is the actual SIZE of the File to be Burned...a warning
appears...but I go ahead anyway...your shipping invoice should LIST your
Shipped Hard-Drive...your DEVICE Manager will LIST your Current
Hard-Ware...make a note of the info in Device Manager...and go to the
manufacturer's-website...and get your SPECS...my MAXTOR is just excellent...I
would not go UNDER 80-GB's for a DVD-writer...I'm interested in some EXTERNAL
HD-even a 250-GB...just to have a Library...I have found the Best
DVD's----are made from your Original Project File....getting into
COPY--off--of the Original is not as good....ROXIO Allows you too choose
HOW-MANY---COPIES---which is a perfect Option...but I have mis-counted and
come up short...it does cause a problem.

Do you mean that I shouldn't try to use my P4 3.2 Gig., not over-clocked,
processor to burn DVD????

You are full of it!!!

One can burn dvds with 5,400 drives no problem. Of course, faster hard
drives are nicer :)

LOL, thanks, that guy was scary. :O

According to my calculation he would need 7 city blocks to park his car. ;)

A 5400 rpm disk can deliver data somewhere between 24 and 32 MBs running at
UDBA66 or 100.

A DVD using UDBA33 is max'ed out at about 8, 10, 12 MBs? A CD-ROM at 52X
175K on UDMA33 delivers about 7.8 MBs.

I would be more concerned about the dust in the environment. (and the over
under run stuff)

Where do there kids get there information?? lol

Duosorio.......Yes....you must have a 7200-RPM HDD.....I would stay at
80-GB's or greater....my 120-GB MAXTOR is perfect but at 60-GB's of files the
extra space does seem wasted....maybe with a larger RAM and P4-speed I good
utilize the rest of that HDD-space....go with a minimum of 512-RAM....I use a
P4 at 1.8 GHz.....but can upgrade to a 2.8 P4.....which I most likely will
do.....I have alot of faith in INTEL and Pentium.....from what I have
read......and concerning writeing DVD-movies.....ROXIO is excellent I
think......and the DELL Picture Studio PLUS is a good
investment.....developed by ROXIO for DELL.....there are problems w/the
DVD-movie....but I have made about 15-nice photo/music shows.....once
mastered they can really be funny.
