i have two systems running xp home and xp pro. i am having trouble with
cd-rom drives and dvd drives. half of the time the cd won't recognize. i can
never get a dvd to recognize. everthing worked well before, sometime in the
recent past. between the two systems, i have three drives that work
sometimes. data disks seem to be ok. music disks are 50/50, dvd's are out.
it seems real strange that i have trouble with three drives at the same time.

system restore has done nothing to help me.

For a Video DVD to be recognized, you must have DVD decoding software
installed, such as PowerDVD and/or WinDVD.

When was the last time you run a cleaning kit on each optical drive..... and
remember the drive does fail after a while. They are getting better, in the
old days of Windows 9x, I never had an optical drive last much more than 12
months or so, but I've had my Pioneer A08 for about 16 months and so far so
good.
