DV-AVI?

I saved my movies as DV-AVI files as suggested but now my vidoes that are
less than 10 minutes long are too large to fit on a dvd that is 4.7GB. Is
there anyway to compress the size of the file without compromising the
quality of the video?

the DVD software will take care of it... DVDs need MPEG-2 files, which are
compressed.... a 10 minute duration is easy as an hour of high quality will
fit fine.
