Nope... not at all... There's no way you'd get a Duron into a P3 socket.
They are made of different materials. Cost is different. P3 has a heat
spreader...

So you see that they aren't comparable at all.

Comparible to an PIII????

Performance-wise, A Duron is a close match for a P3
coppermine or Tualatin w/256MB L2 cache, clock-for-clock,
but slower than Tualatin w/512MB L2. The duron runs a lot
hotter than comparable P3 though and motherboards of same
age for Athlon were crap, though a modern Socket A board
would be a better choice, make the Duron better overall
choice than the P3 when heat and power aren't primary
issues.

Presumably high performance isn't important if these two are
the choices, so it may not matter much... either is
perfectly suitable for typical
office/email/surfin'/fileserver/DVD/etc.

Thanks
