I experienced duplicated email messages everytime after my
offline folder sychronizing with inbox folder from
exchange server 5.5. My outlook version is 2000 and
running on Windows XP tablet edition of a Toshiba's tablet
notebook. I did not experience the problem when I have
another user under Outlook 98 with a IBM notebook computer
running on Windows 98 OS.

I am wondering if it is client setting issue, or software
compatiability issue or exchange server issue.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

John

Sorry, I can't help, but I just wanted to comment -

John,I had a similar problem with Outlook Express.. Below
is a few things you can try... Keep in mind this is
for "Outlook Express" not "OUTLOOK"..

Conne

Cornelia,

Thank you for writing to

When you have a "stuck" message, you will receive a copy
of each message before the "stuck" one each time you try
to download your email. For example, if message number 10
is stuck and you try to download your mail 10 times, you
will receive 10 copies of messages 1 through 9.

To resolve this issue, you will need to either delete
the "stuck" message from the server by going to the
Comcast Mail Center at www.comcast.net and deleting it or
reconfigure Outlook Express using the SSL settings below.

If you choose the first option, make sure you delete it
from your Trash folder after deleting it from the Inbox.

Open Outlook Express and click Tools, Accounts, Mail.
Then highlight the email account you are going to use,
and click Properties.

In the General tab, ensure that the email address and
Reply address are set to your @comcast.net email address.
You can use these settings to check email when you are
away from home or using your Comcast High Speed Internet
connection. Note that there will be a slight delay when
sending and receiving email while authentication is
performed.

On the Servers tab, enter mail.comcast.net for the
Incoming mail server and smtp.comcast.net for the
Outgoing mail server. Click My Server Requires
Authentication and then click Settings. Please note: Do
NOT check the "Log On Using Secure Password
Authentication" box. In the Outgoing Mail Server window,
select Log On Using, enter your @comcast.net email
address and password and click OK.

On the Advanced tab, enter 465 in the Outgoing mail port
number field and 995 in the Incoming mail port number
field. For both, click This Server Requires A Secure
Connection (SSL). Click Apply for the settings to take
effect, then click OK.

You should now be able to send and receive mail using
your comcast.net mail account using Outlook Express when
you are not on the Comcast High Speed Internet network.

Please remember, however, that this method is not
supported either when at home or when away from home. If
you cannot get Outlook Express to work using the above
settings, you will be directed to input the normal
settings when at home and to use the Comcast Mail Center
at www.comcast.net when not at home.

When you are finished "unstucking" your mail, place the
regular settings back into Outlook Express. Below are the
regular settings.

If this does not resolve your issue, please reply with
the exact and complete error message from Outlook Express.
