Hello,
just did an XP repair install to a Biostar 6100 M9
motherboard / AMD 64 3200+.
It's an Nvidia chipset board.

I'm a little unfamliar with it, and there's a few things I
noticed, one of them is duplicates in the device manager:
http://home.comcast.net/~davetest/dm2.JPG

They're all working, according to device manager/
properties. Only one occurrence of the primary and
secondary controller gives the active dma mode,
the other says "not applicable"

However, all the general tabs say "this device is working
properly"

Thanks for any enlightenment.

Same here.
Did you try Cool & Quiet? Kindly try it and report back. My 6100-M9 is
not usable at all, it reboots every few seconds. Stable if Cool & Quiet
is disabled.
I enabled Cool & Quiet in bios CU51M222bf.exe & Cu51mb24bf.exe (tried
both), installed AMD driver, then select "Minimal Power Management"
schemes. Computer reboots all the time.
The latest bios is CU51M222bf.exe, the Super I/O screen is gone, so
can't set power up from keyboard anymore.
I suspect it is a bios issue because I had an MSI board that uses the
same chipset and Cool & Quiet works.

Hello, I guess the dup. devices are OK. They can be disabled in the
bios and then they'll disappear from device manager. I left mine
active (but they're unused)

What cpu are you using ? AMD 64, x2 or FX?
I updated to the lated bios (222) and I am using cool and queit.
I used the C&Q version on the MB cdrom (there's a newer one on
AMD's site) and it's working just fine.
I did have some strange restarts but they went away completely
after I updated to the new BIOS.
I used the nvidia chipset drivers version 826, I installed all except
"storage". I used the geforce driver that 8.1.33.
I think it's the version on the disk.
Try using "optimized defaults" in the bios.
Check to see if there are any error devices in device manager.
If nothing is apparent, try the memory tester - version 165

You should also visit the AMD forum. Some great people there.

All in all, mine is working well - it's a great budget system.
I did a small benchmark. Using Tmpgenc to encode a very
short mpeg file, it took 9 1/2 minutes on my old system,
kt133a/Athlon Thunderbird 1.2GHz. (from 2001)
On my updated system it encodes the file in 3 1/2 minutes.
