Duplicate .pst folders

Help! I managed to futz up my Outlook but good! I created a new personal folder, and it switched the Outlook Today default to that folder. All my other subfolders are in the original folder (including my contacts and calendar, etc.)

I copied the inbox into the new folder, but now I just have duplicate everything (an inbox and inbox1)! When I try to access my address book when creating a new email, it's completely blank! The contact folder is still there, the email isn't seeing it.

How do I get back to my original personal folder and get rid of the duplicate? When I try to close the original (since I duplicated everything) I get an error that says "unable to find object". Help me, Obi One ...you're my last hope...and I can't find an 800 number to contact an Outlook help desk! Thanks in advance for your help!

3 separate problems:

1. How did you "Copy" your information? Looks to me as if you dragged and
dropped the entire Folder. That creates a second folder. Instead you should
have selected all the Contents then used the "Copy to Folder... command to
transfer the information to the other Folder.

2. You have not added your current Contacts Folder to the Outlook Address
Book. R click it > Properties > Outlook Address Book > Show as email address
book

3. You may need to edit the registry to get rid of you previous default PST
file. Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook
Within the Outlook folder, there are a bunch of folders with long
hexadecimal values for names -- those are the ones you need to look in to
see if you can find the old .PST names. If you delete one of the keys and it
points to your real .PST file instead of one of the old one, it's not the
end of the world -- your data won't be gone. The worst you would have to do
is recreate your Outlook profile.
