duplicate "personal folders" -- can't remove, remain even after re

This has plagued me for several months now. Somehow on this reinstall
(newish pc) I ended up with two, then three duplicate "personal folder"
folders. Each one is a duplicate -- same inbox, calendar, contacts,
etc...they are exact duplicates/mirrors of each other. I have followed all
faqs online without success to remove the duplicates. I've even removed all
email accounts so that nothing is relying on them and I still can't close
them. The option isn't there.

I've even removed the entire Office install, deleted the files I could find
and reinstalled. It starts back up with the duplicate folders with the same
spelling already there on the first load.

So there must be a configuration file somewhere that I'm not catching...

I've removed: Documents and settings/USERNAME/local settings/application
data/microsoft/outlook/*.* and the reference to outlook under: Documents
and settings/USERNAME/application data/microsoft/outlook/*.*

Where else could config files stay resident?

Any other solutions to this problem? I've uninstalled/reinstalled about 10+
times now. I've used outlook for over 5 years and would consider myself a
pretty knowledgeable user on how it functions so this is pretty annoying.

Thanks!

Nevermind. Somehow the instructions I've tried before worked this time.

1. Removed all pre-filled email account info (that I assume the registry or
a file somewhere I couldn't find was retaining.

2. Create a new pst.

3. Create 1 email account. Point it to the new pst.

4. Exit/restart outlook.

That flipped the Personal Folders to the bottom (with my new custom one on
top). I was then able to close it without getting the "object was not found"
error that I did before.

Recopy original psts back to original location and rename custom one to
former name to restore. Voila.
