Duplicate names in Outlook contacts

I recently saved my contacts by making a "paste-copy" to an external
folder (stored as "outlook elements". I copied these contacts to an
other computer with an other "paste-copy" directly in the "contact
folder. Now when I open "new message" then the selection box "to",
every contacts with more than one e-email adress is duplicated (one for
each different e-mail adress, one for the fax number).
What did I wrong and who knows the solution?

Copy and paste is a poor way to transfer Contacts. Exporting to a PST file,
then importing that file will allow you to avoid duplicates and preserve
data.
However, that is not your problem in this case. What you are seeing is the
normal behavior for the Outlook Address Book. The standard behavior for the
Outlook Address book is to display all electronic addresses (both fax and
e-mail). That behavior cannot be changed. The only way to prevent the
display of fax numbers is to store them in a different field or to disguise
them (e.g., precede them with an alpha character) so that Outlook won't
recognize them as phone numbers.
There are also a number of utilities available that can do this for you
automatically. Some are listed here:

Bad luck, the "choose name" window" is so small that it is impossible to
select the correct adress without clicking the right arrow to see
it.With office 2000 each name was written once with a e-mail adress
selector. Anyway what is the difference between "contacts""outlook
adress book (OAB)" and "personnal adress book(PAB)"? Is there a way
(and is it usefull in my case?)to copy my "contacts" in OAB and/or PAB
(both are empty for the moment)?
Thanks

The Outlook Address Book is merely a view of the electronic addresses in
your Contacts Folder. It contains no data. The Personal Address Book is no
longer in use. It was replaced by the Outlook Address Book years ago. What
you are seeing is normal behavior for the Outlook Address Book. In Outlook
2000 you must have been using IMO mail support mode. IMO did not use the
Outlook Address Book. It used the Windows Address Book.
