I am running Win2K4 on two of my three computers. I researched the MS
Knowledgebase, and this error is a known issue. The resolution said to
install SP 1 (I have ALL Service Packs installed) - this error continues on
boith Win2K computers. One computer reboots upon receiving this error. What
to do? Very frustrating to say the least -- I have renamed the Woarkgroup; I
have renamed all three computers. The one with XP Home has no such problem.

The three computers do have different names don't they?

Yes,. all are on same workgroup but each has a unique name. The WinXP does
not exhibit a problem, but both Win2K machines have this error.

on all three boxes, (with administrative rights):

disable the browser service.
shut all machines down

On only one 2k machine, re-enable the browser by setting the startup to
Automatic

power on the other two, and let the master browser (above) manage the PC
names.

if you don't shut all machines down after disabling the browser, you
must wait 30 minutes for the data to flush.

good luck.

Thank you Tim (sorry, I fat-fingered a response too soon). Worked like a
charm. Appreciate it! It was getting so bad that the Win2K machine I use
most was looping into a reboot.
