Duplicate name in Send To list, BCC, etc.

When starting a new mail message in Outlook 2002 I get a
list of names when I use the To or BCC button. The
problem I am having is that some of the names appear
twice or three times. They appear only once in the
contacts.

I suspect that this started when I moved data from my
laptop to a new desktop machine running XP Professional.
I would like to be able to fix this so that all names
appear once.

When I do a right mouse click on the outlook icon and
look at properties and data files I notice that there are
three:

C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
The comment on this one has mail delivery location
When I open this I the following two files:
"Outlook office data file" 6,400 kb
"Extend dat file" 2kb

C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\My Documents\inbox mail.pst
Comment field is blank
This file "In Box Mail" was created today and is 32 kb

C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\My Documents\personal
folders.pst
This "personal folders" file is 32 kb and created on Oct
29th.

I have the ability to remove, open folder, or go into
settings that will allow me to change the password.

Not sure what to do to get rid of those duplicates that
appears when I attempt to send mail.
Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Open your DL, not your Contacts Folder. How many times do the names appear
there?

What is DL list.

I may have fixed the problem. When I went to the Send To
button I just highlighted the duplicates and deleted
them.

As I read your post, I thought you were calling up a list of multiple
recipients. That's a Distribution List (DL).
If that is not what you're using, then explain more clearly what this "list"
is and how you are accessing it. Are you talking about the Outlook Address
Book? Are you sure these are really duplicates and not the separate
electronic addresses that the Address Book displays for each Contact?
