Hello,

We are having a problem with a Windows 2000 professional
system. The system was created from a sysprep'd system
about two months ago. Since then we will get a 4199 tcpip
error in the system log a couple of times each day. The
user will be informed that a duplicate IP address has been
detected on the network and only a reboot will restore
connectivity.

I have scanned the network for the MAC address that is
listed in the error log, but it does not appear to exist.
When the system in question is shut down and I try to ping
its IP address, there is no response.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on this problem.

if you feel the network is large enough, I would sujest
seting up a DHCP on the win2k box, you would have to set
each computer to obtain there IP's but its alot better
then weeding throught all the copmuters to find a
conflict.

The network does have a Windows 2000 DHCP server. There
are no conflicts shown on the DHCP server, either. It's
very strange; it's like there is a ghost MAC address out
there that only shows up sporadically...

Hi
I have the same problem. I have not been able to solve it.
Do you have one or two network cards installed? I have two
and was wondering if the one not in use might be causing
this problem?

Hi
It seems as if my problems was solved when I removed a
print server from the network. It is still a bit weird
though!
