Duplicate entries listed in DHCP leases

Doing some general admin and looking in the DHCP leases I
noticed that quite a lot of machines (but not all) were
listed twice with separate IP addresses, as if the old
lease was not being released.

When sending a net send message to one of these machines
sometimes the message gets through and other times it does
not.

Is there a way of getting rid of these old leases.
