Hi,

I have a database of over 10,000 entries and adding to them daily. I've now
found that I have as an example, e-mail addresses that are duplicate. Can
anyone provide a template or other source for a way to go through the
database and identify those duplicate entries?

Thanks - Robert

You can make a query put the email address field in twice. Set the 2nd email
address to count with a value >1. Once you clean out the duplicates set your
email field in your table to not allow duplicates

Kltino this reads like what I'm looking for, however I'cm a complete novice
on this stuff and creating query with two e-mail addresses set to a value of
1 is beyond me. Can you provide some baby steps on how to do this.

Thanks

You can use the "Find Duplicates Query Wizard" to create this query very
quickly ...

Robert:

Use the "Find Duplicates Query Wizard" to create your query. I don't know
about your version of Access, but in Access 2002, the "Find Duplicates Query
Wizard" is only installed if you select "Install Additional Wizards" when
Microsoft Office 2002 is installed.

Here's how you create the query using the wizard:

1. In the database window, click "Queries" to bring the Queries page to
the front.

2. Click the "New" toolbar button in the database window to create a new
query. The "New Query" dialog box opens.

3. In the dialog, double-click "Find Duplicates Query Wizard" to start
the wizrard and complete its steps.

You will end up with a "Select" query that will find duplicate records.

My Access help includes a topic headed "I want to delete duplicate records
after using the Duplicates Wizard". This help topic gives you a step-by-step
method for safely using the query you created to delete the duplicate
records.

Regards
Geoff
