Duplicate contact groups

I have a client who has Outlook 2002. He set up 3 contact
groups titled Contacts, Prospects and Clients. The
contacts in each of these groups are different. However,
there is now another group titled Personal which he did
not set up. Every time that he adds a contact to the
Contacts group, the same contact is added to the Personal
group. He's afraid to delete the Personal group for fear
that the Contacts group will also be deleted. Why are the
Contact and Personal groups duplicating each other and how
do we stop it? Thanks.

Outlook does not use groups. You'll need to define what do you mean by
groups.

Sorry, I don't use Outlook, so I'm not familiar with its
features. The way I understand it from my client is that
he has separate lists for Contacts, Prospects and Clients.
However, a fourth list has appeared called Personal. He
did not set up this list. Whenever he enters contacts into
the Contact list, the information is duplicated into the
Personal list. Hope that clarifies the situation.

We'll need to determine just what these "lists" are and how he has Outlook
configured.
Exchange Server or local information store?
More than one Contacts Folder (i.e., separate Contacts Subfolders)?
Distribution Lists?
If he's not sure, ask him how he created them and we can figure out the
rest.
