DUN losing username and password

I am not sure when this started but for the past six
months +/- dial up networking on my Win2000 machine will
run fine for maybe 3 or 4 days (or 1 day) and then
suddenly seems to lose the ability to communicate username
or password at connection time. I get the "not valid on
domain" message, but the problem does not appear to be at
the ISP end. If I delete the connectoid, and reinstall
with all the same information everything begins working
again ... for awhile for a few days. I'm stumped. And
tired of having to set up dial up networking every couple
of days.

Am I the only one who has this problem? Obviously
something appears to be interfering with dial-up-
networking's ability to remember username and password
and/or the ability to communicate it to the ISP. This is
not an ISP problem as another computer (Win98) has never
had this problem. Yes -- "remember password" is checked.
That also is not the problem. I haven't figured the
number, but this seems to occur after a certain number of
connections to the ISP -- like there is a phantom counter
in there somewhere which self destructs after a certain
number.
