I have a problem witn my dial up neworking connection. I am normally on
a LAN, here at college, but when I take my laptop home, I connect via
dial up. Last time I took my computer home, however, my dial up
connection had disappeared. I thought that was kind of strange, but I
tried to recreate it. I got all the way through the DUN wizard, and
when I got to the last step, where you name your connection, the wizard
said every name that I typed in was invalid. The message was something
along the lines of "your name must include at least one character that
is not a space and cannot begin with a period." My names, of course,
did include several characters that were not spaces, and did not begin
with periods. So, I cannot create a new DUN connection, and thus,
cannot connect to the internet via dial up when I am home. Has anyone
encountered this problem before? I am running W2k sp4. This problem
did not coincide with any upgrades either...so I am stumped.

Thanks in advance for any help
Adam

Yep I had this problem I gave up after the third attempt and went for the
option of costructing my own diallers

Result straight in to my ISP

Maybe you could consider this option

Hi Adam,

Have a look at articole 329050 troubleshooting missing network and dial-up
connections icons and 254631 some network and dial-up connections icons may
be missing.
