hello all,

i'm having a problem with bsod's and cannot figure out
what is going on. i read somewhere that using dumpchk
might help in narrownig down the problem. i installed
the support tools and have the option set to write a dump
file. whenever i run the program i get an error message
stating the following.

"debugclient cannot open dumpfle - error 80070002" or
"acsess denied"

of course i am not sure i am using the program correctly
because i can't find instructions on how to use it.
thank you in advance for any assistance!

Is that where you found the tools and info? If not check it out.

Also I believe you will be able to find some info using "Event Viewer:
Start-->Run-->Type the following (or copy/paste from here) with no quotes:
" %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s "
I am not sure if it is under "Application" or "System" but look for
"Winlogon" and double-click it for info. There will be a link that may lead
to some help from M$, but sometimes there's not much there.
Click the link, then after the page loads, click "More info"

You can clear the Log at any time, if you want a fresh start on messages.
Just highlight the log you want to clear and click "Action" then Clear All
Events.
It will ask if you want to save them to a file - do that - you can always
delete it later.
Plus you will have it if you actually need to contact M$ support.

Hopefully you will get some help out of all that!

Good Luck,
DocTa
