Hi

I cant install .Net 2.0 because of an error with the Windows 3.0 Installer,
this in turn means i cant install Sql Server 2005 Express Edition. Does
Microsoft seriously expect that Im going to open myself up to this kind of
bullshit dependancy chain for every copy of my software I sell? Not likely.

Seems to me the support costs of this 2.0 model alone would eat through any
profit I might make. Maybe those VB6ers do have a point.

Peter,

I know that was his point, but a solution to actually install the software
might be helpful as well. As to the point, well you can't continue to create
new software without requiring new tools, can you? At some point some
backwards compatibility is lost. Regrettable but necessary in some cases.

Backwards compatibility? The software I am trying to install and use was
only released a week ago. Backwards compatibility is not the issue. Buggy
cross dependencies and its effects on the economics of software making are.
