Dumb Vista Questions

HP is shipping Vista now. Dell and ASUS are not and don't expect to
until March. I kind of buy the "we like a stable product" angle but
then again I have a A23 power adapter from Dell (as in 23 revisions
since A00). So what's the deal?

What is the Express Upgrade exactly? Is it a piggyback installation?
Is it a clean installation? If I reinstall the OS, which I do a lot,
will it create hassles for me?

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, the Express Upgrade that Dell will be shipping
to those customers that bought a qualifing system since Oct 26, will include
2 disks. One will be the normal Microsoft Vista Upgrade disk possibly with
Dell drivers slipstreamed into it and there will also be another disk to
guide you through the entire upgrade process including possible BIOS
upgrades.

I believe it's the construction of the Dell disk that is the main reason
Dell's Express upgrades won't be shipping until late February or so.

Vista upgrades must be run from an existing Windows installation that has
been activated and certified genuine by Microsoft's WGA. So, it appears that
each and every time you want to re-install Vista (from a Upgrade disk), you
will first have to re-install XP or whatever old version of Windows you
have, then re-install the Vista upgrade.

Or just buy a full version of Vista.
