Dumb suggestion for Microsoft

It seems if I want to customize something or change settings, I may need to
go here (maybe view/customize) or there (maybe tools/options), or exit out
of the program a certain way to get it to stay that way, or file/page
set-up, or do something else.

Why not place all options and settings in the *same* place?

(I can click file/print for everything - same idea for settings and
options!)

No, that would be too easy....

Perhaps this is what we may get in the next release of Office and
Vista!! According to MS, windows hasn't changed for 10 years and so
they are thinking of a complete revamp of the interface!! This means we
senior citizens have to relearn everything all over again. What a cruel
way to treat us!

No, there'll probably be a "Legacy-Classic" view for us. In an enlarged
font.

You're not talking to MS here. These are peer support newsgroups. See
this link to contact MS to registry your request.

No, the approved way to submit suggestions now is to post a "Suggestion for
Microsoft" through the Web forums.

I suspect you'll find Office 12 more to your liking.

If you want a preview of the new UI, look at some of the articles linked
from http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/Office12/

Upgrading is not compulsory. There are many people producing good work with
Word 97, which still offers more functionality than most users ever get
round to using.

LOL! What did MS change the color scheme, and where to find things in
the menu bar again, and repackage it all as a new version of Office?

"Trustworthy Computing" is only another example of an Oxymoron!
"Produkt-Aktivierung macht frei"

If you think so, you might want to look at some of the articles linked from
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/Office12/. Jensen Harris's series of blog
postings on "Why the New UI" I find especially interesting.

Ooh and eye candy too!

Plus it looks like people that have finally learned to navigate their
way in Windows and Office will have to learn a different way of doing
things. Like Anul Fistula, change for the sake of change.

Hi Suzanne,

Take one look at the troll's sig and tell me why you bothered to
reply. <g> I killfiled him long ago.

He is not the only person reading this NG. Others will read my answer and
perhaps be more receptive to the information.

No, change for the sake of capital income.

Do you know what a "shortcut" is? It's a "different method" of doing
something. Please review your request based on the widened view of reality.

Thanks for the link, Suzanne. Examined the new Office UI, and decided I'll
need to use Office 2003 for the next 27 years. I'm too old to learn a
dramatically complicated new UI. Gimme my toolbars back! (Smile.)

If I wanted a "gee-whiz" Macintosh UI, I would have bought a Mac.

All I can say is that most of those who have seen static screen shots have
reacted much like you. Those who have seen the new UI in action have reacted
much more favorably.
