I have had several probelms solved here, Thanks.
I have a dial-up connection, 26400bps, I live in the mtns
and each time I have had to reformat and re-install my HD
I have gone to MS for my updates and spent the next two
days downloading updates. Is there a way to save these
UPDATES to a CD and then if I have to reformat etc have my
system read the udates and do it all in less time? Or am I
forced to go to MS and spend hours upon hours downloading?
don't suggest DSL, they won't be in my area for sometime.
I know sell and move.

You can get a free CD from Microsoft that contains all updates through
October of 2003.

One option. Get a copy of Norton Ghost and once you have all the updates installed, make an image of your system. Then, next reinstall you it already done.

Go to Windows Update
Click PERSONALIZE on the left side
Activate the CATALOG function

You may now download the updates to write to a CD

Hi Craig
I did mine this way , I went to windows update and let my PC download all
the updates it said i needed ,
then when it got close to the end of downloading , i went to WUTemp folder
and watchedthe download graph and when it started to install the first
update , i copied and pasted the rest in a folde i created. Burned them on a
CD and now i just install them when i need them. Got to install one at a
time and i restart my pc every half dozen , I have service pack 1 but still
need about 18 updates.
My internet is like yours, 26.4 at best, live in the sticks up north in
minnesota.
It takes me about 15 minutes to install all my updates.
Hope this helps you out.
Carl
