I just instaled Quickbooks 2005 - which requires .Net -- I hate it - but
can't use the software w/o it. Is there any way to bypass the selection
screen - since there is only one selection - me - on the computer - or must
I sit here and wait to click my name before the computer will boot to the
desktop? Any help - is most appreciated.

I assume you mean the XP log on screen?

If Quicken did not create additional accounts that show up as users, you
should be fine to circumvent and have Windows XP auto logon. To do this,
make sure your account has no password. If there are additional accounts, I
believe a registry hack is the only way.

I would go to the Windows XP user group and ask how to auto sign on an
account on a machine with multiple accounts, if so.

Thanks for replying - there is only one acct - and no password - how do I go
about setting up the auto logon?

Hello Richard,

Try writing at a command prompt:

net user aspnet /active:no

This may inhibit the ASP.NET worker process. I don't know what side effects this may have, but probably none if you don't use ASP.NET.

Regards.
