I plan on using my old 19" CRT and a new LCD on the same PC mainly for back
and forth word processing and web browsing.and my son will play newer games
such as HL2 on occasion. Is this possible with one card like the ATI
X800XL, or do I need one of those extremely expensive FireGL multi-display
cards? If this can be done with one card, what adaptors would I need if
any? Would the LCD have to be analog also?

Future system
XP Pro
Intel 955 MOBO
Intel 830 D
620W PSU

The x800xl will do that nicely.
I have a 21" widescreen LCD (DVI connection) and a 19" crt (VGA
connection) both in use from my x800xl.

Even if both of your units are VGA - you can use both by attaching the
DVI/VGA converter so you have TWO VGA outs. Better if you can use DVI with
the LCD screen and VGA with the CRT.

Cheers

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. Just one of those English word
commonalities for those of use with a dry sense of humor.

Hardware conflicts may be internal or external. For what is war but politics
with bloodshed? The one true solution is to [plug 'n] pray.
