You don't mention the OS you're using it on or what the issue, if any, is
that you have with the drive. You do have a problem with your Caps Lock key
though, turn it off. Posting in all caps is hard to read and considered
shouting, both of which will cause many to ignore your post.

LG has the firmware for your drive on their "Software Upgrades" support
page, although the one offered may/may not be old, new or what is installed
for the drive already. If you care to download it and have a look at it
start here: http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp

Click on the Software Upgrades link in the left side menu.
In the Product Group box select Computer Products from the dropdown list.
In the Product box select DVD-ROM(Writer) from the dropdown list.
Do Not select or enter anything in the Operating System or Subject box.
Click Search.
Scroll to the bottom of the list.
Click Next to the right of page 5. and Page 6 should open.
Your model/firmware is the first one listed.

Read any/all documentation regarding to the firmware offered for download,
it may/may not apply to your particular situation and if it doesn't you may
wind up in a tighter bind with the drive. If you choose to download/install
the firmware, you do so AT Your Own Risk and are solely responsible for your
actions should anything go wrong.

If you still need help, contact LG support by filling out a form, using
Live chat or calling them, all of which are on a page accessed by clicking
the Contact Customer Support link in the left side menu.

Personally I'd get a new keyboard before I got a new burner, your Caps Lock
key seems to have malfunctioned.

No version of Windows since 9x has needed optical drive drivers from an
external manufacturer, they are included in the operating system.

If your optical drive cannot be found.....

Is it showing up in the BIOS? If not, it's dead, get a new one.

If it is, is it showing up in Device Manager?

If not, see: http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.php#problems

However the very FIRST thing you should do is get some decent and up to date
antivirus software. There is no excuse in this day and age for inflicting
your negligence on everyone else, if indeed this is the problem.
www.eset.com and download and install NOD32. It's free for 30 days. During
those 30 days you can save up the $39.99 needed for the year's updates.

Do you have a copy of "NERO: Burning Rom" installed?

I have read anecdotes on various support sites suggesting that Nero mucks
about a little with drivers, and that this can cause newer optical drives to
be undetected. Some of these offer registry-editing advice that can get you
to the point where your drive is detectable.

If if makes you feel any better, Samsung's optical driver support site is
similarly "hands off." They offer firmware, but no drivers. Windows is
supposed to detect the drive and pick the best driver.
