Dublicate Tab'd Pages

I'm using Access 2003. I am converting the Issues database for another
purpose. I successfully created a new tab'd form and copied and pasted all
of the elements from the Issues form to the new form. Whenever I try to
insert a new tab'd page, all of the elements from page 1 are duplicated on
the new tab'd page.

What is causing this and what can I do to resolve this problem?

Thanks for any responses,

are you sure those elements are being *duplicated* on subsequent pages? try
the following experiment: open the form in design view. click on the tab
control (NOT on a tab page or any other controls) and drag it to the far
right of the form. did the controls on the tab page "move" with the tab
control? or are they still sitting in their original positions in the Detail
section of the form?

if the controls didn't move with the tab control, they were never placed on
the tab page to begin with. try selecting them, and clicking Ctrl+x to "cut"
them off the form. then move the tab control back into position. next, click
on the tab page you want the controls to be placed on; check the Properties
box to make sure you've actually selected the tab page. then press Ctrl+v to
"paste" the controls onto the tab page. now try adding a new tab page to the
tab control.

Thanks for the response.

You were right. So, every time I inserted a new page the controls were under
the tab page? That explains when I tried to delete a control on the newly
inserted tab'd page, the control was also deleted from the first tab'd page.

This seemed like an easy cut and paste operation to me.

not really "under the tab *page*". the controls were not placed on a page in
the tab control at all, but rather in the section that the tab control was
also sitting in. because the controls were sitting in the form section, they
essentially "showed through" the tab control and all of its' pages.

well, yes and no. there was only one control, and it was sitting in the form
section, and "showing through" all the pages of the tab control. for an
illustration of how this works, and how to correctly place controls onto a
page in a tab control, go to
http://home.att.net/~california.db/instructions.html and click the
TabPageControls link.

well, it is - once you understand how to do it correctly.
