Hi!

I am a noob, so thanks for help in advance! I have a question on dual
port nic cards with servers-- why the dual ports? What do you plug
into them? Two different switches? I am not sure how they work in the
big picture. Also, any websites that cover this and explain it would
be helpful!

Often the servers with Dual nics come with a software component that
allow you to bind the two nics to icrease performance and/or provide
for fault tolerance. Additional fault tolerance is then provided by
connecting each nic to a different switch. additionally the second nic
can be used when clustering servers or using ISCSI.
