Dual OS Systems

At present,my P-4 computer has two separate hard drives
and Operating Systems; with Windows Me on the one and
Windows XP Prof. on the other drive. MY problem is,
Windows Me was fine for over a year but now it will not
regonize my CD or DVD Drives. I reinstalled Windows Me
and Windows XP Prof.and Windows Me's CD and DVD Drives
were working fine,when I installed Windows Me updates I
lost them again. Attempted to delete and re-installed
both drivers again without any sucess. Is there a
simpler way to solve this problem without re-installing
both OS systems again?

Is it possible to have Dual XP Operating Systems,
example: XP Prof. and XP Home Edition and if possible,
what would it require?
