If yr saying you want them to act similarly to ISDN ie double yr download
rate I believe most ISPs took measures to prevent this being done some time
ago, at least they did in the UK. You would also need the ability to
synchronise the connections. Yr ISP will likely be able to monitor this type
of connection, if they havent blocked it, and take the appropriate action.
ie terminate the account.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but probably not possible. Like saying that
you want to drive 2 cars at the same time to get to your destination twice
as fast.

With dial-up Internet, there is procedure called "modem
bonding" that allows you to make connections the ISP with
two (maybe more) 56 k modems. The ISP has to support this
and you need software to merge the data stream.

It could be done with an Ethernet and cable, but again you'd
need the ISP to support it. You would also have to pay for
two network connections.

I had a dual modem way back in the day, and while the theory was good, in
practice it wasn't all that great. The second modem always connected at a
slower speed. And while the speed for two different downloads was better
than using one modem, it didn't help a bit with a single download, or with
normal web sites.

On the other hand, yesterday I had a customer's computer connected to the
web through my DSL to download Windows Updates, while at the same time
connected through their modem to their dial-up ISP to check their mail
service.

Not that I would recommend it for any normal purpose.
