Dual NIC on Win2000 behaves differently from NT4 setup

I am at a loss as to what's different on Win2000 Pro PC with 2 NIC
cards.
I have a dual boot PC with NT4 and Win2000 prof installed. My setting
for the NT is similar in terms of network addresses ie, 10.x.x.x
series to a private corporate LAN [DNS and DHCP in place on this
portion] plus our support group LAN with address range 209.13.x.x.
I have no problem reacing all nodes in this setup under Win NT4 but
when I installed Win2000 prof. I could not ping any node. However on
disabling one of the 2 NICs, I had no problem getting through
immediately wit the Ping - which means it could form a path quickly.
How does one implement the route command under W2K to do what I can in
NT ?
From what I see, Win2000 does not seem to behave like NT in the
network implementation -esp. in route settings.
