Dual monitors with low tech TV

After getting my main machine working using dual monitors, I decided
to push my luck.
I have a very old TV in the den that works just fine but it is so old
that it only has connections on the back for an antenna and a cable.
The TV will only go to channel 13 without using the VCR on top. With
the VCR on top I can tune in 2-99

The VCR is so old that the only connections it has are for cable, and
there are two white, and yellow ports that are labeled audio in and
audio out.

I have a couple of fancy adapters that came with various video cards.
One has a S Video connection on a short jumper. On the other end, it
has ports for S Video in and S Video out. It also has a row of 3 HDTV
ports on one side and a red and yellow port on the other.

I plugged a yellow jumper in the yellow port on the adapter and into
the video in port on the VCR but I get nothing.

Can I use this adapter to get my high tech stuff to work with my low
tech stuff?

If not, is there a way to make this work?

Thanks
