My video card supports dual monitors and I see the nedd for myself to set
this up. This is a feat that I have not tried before and was hoping to get
some info from others in this group that have this knowledge. I do have the
proper cable for the back of the video card, but I wasd wondering what I
needed to do in the OS and/or software wise to handle this? Thanks.

It is dependent on the video drivers which you have installed. If you have a
nvidia card you can right click on your desktop bring up display properties
go to setting, advanced tab and set up your montior either by setting up a
clone or actually spreading your desktop over two screens.

Open Control Panel - Display - Settings.

Does it show 2 monitors at the top or just one?

If it shows 2 monitors you are in business and all you need to do is
to connect the second monitor.

If it only shows a single monitor you need to check with the video
card manufacturer for updated drivers and/or instructions on using
dual monitors in XP with that specific card model.

Good luck
