I have an ATI AIW9800 and want to run two(maybe even 3) monitors. High resolution is not so important. I just want more real estate for multiple open windows

What video card(s) should I buy to add just 1 monitor? What about for 2

Thanks
Derek

I don't know whether 3 monitors works, but I do have a video card that has two
output plugs. I used it to replace two different video cards that used
different types of slots. Some of my drivers don't shut down when I shut down,
and some software is not written for multiple monitors, but mostly I am happy.

To add a monitor to your set up, try to find a PCI ATI Raedon card. That
way you should not have to load a second set of video drivers (the current
set show be able to detect the second card.)

If this is not possbile, then you may have to replace your AIW card with a
standard non- AIW Raedon, which should have one VGA connection and a DVI
connection. DVI can be converted to VGA with an adapter.

I'm running a Matrox G450 dual-head (32mb) that works great with two
monitors. I'm also using Ultramon (www.ultramon.com), a very good utility
for multi-monitor systems that provides many more features. The G450DH is
an excellent card for 2D operation, which is all I do here, but may be
limited for some of the newer 3D games.

For more than one monitor I assume you'll need a dual-head plus a PCI video
card for a third or more. I've never installed more than two monitors, but
I know it can be done, and Ultramon can support at least three.
