Dual monitor over a network like MaxiVista

Anybody know of freeware that will allow you to use a second computer as a 2nd monitor
across a network like http://www.maxivista.com/. I would think you could use VNC for
much of the code needed to develop something like this. Developing the virtual video
adapter might be tricky.

I vaguely remember talk of such a task in one of the VNC forums
a while back. I say vaguely, because it caught my attention for
roughly the same reasons it has caught yours. That was a while
ago though. Saying that, I frequented the UltraVNC site quite
a bit back then, so there's a 50/50 chance that's where I saw it
mentioned. It might be worth a luck.
