Dual Monitor Background Image help!

I just purchased a second Samsung SyncMaster 913v. Attached it to the DVI
output via adaptor.

Lots of fun. Browser on the left, TV on the right, Desktop Sidebar on the
far right, icons in the middle. Been playing around with VISTA themes for
Win XP sr2. So I have been downloading themes, icons, and background images
and I want to have one background across both monitors, not this same stuff
on both, two times.

Why can't I have one 2560 x 1024 (1280x1024 x 2) image stretched across both
monitors?

I looked everywhere in Catalyst v6.1, nothing to offer different background
for monitor 2. Loaded Hydravision, nothing their either (waste of cpu
resources - removed). Looked at ATI's web site for help - nothing.

Am I stuck with the same background on both monitors? I've seen backgrounds
made for this - am I missing something?

SYSTEM:

MBoard: ASUS K8V SE deluxe, AMD 3200+, 1g ram.
ATI x850 with two Samsung SyncMaster 913V's running at 1280x1024 each.
250 geg sata hd, Avermedia TV/FM card.

I use Ultramon to manage my dual monitor. It allows you to span an image
across both desktops, or use a different image for each. Ultramon has many
more cool features, and was worth every penny.

Looks nice, but to much money just for having a different background on the
second monitor. $39.95. I want something for free.

I guess I am just a cheapskate.

AWC does not mention dual monitor support, leaving me the belief it does
not. Advanced Wall Paper has a 'Pro' version, for money that does. But I
want something for free.

I think ATI should have something laying around to address this request for
free

I currently use AWC... it works. And its free.

Thank you. I spent some time with the program and got it to work. I've
been busy making 1560x1024 images from my library for the program to use. I
have some stunning pictures from Bryce Canyon, Utah to look at across both
monitors. Makes me want to take another trip.

I still think ATI should offer something to allow background images to span
two monitors. With the price of LCD's dropping, and the advantages of
having two monitors running, I think this feature will be needed soon f rom
ATI.

Bill - I don't suppose you could make these 1560 x 1024 images of the
Bryce Canyon available anywhere for download could you? I'd quite like to
try it on my dual monitor set up...

I sent 4 images (and an empty one - ops) to the news group. I think there
must be a size limit, don't see them.

When I have some free time, I'll get around and post the images on my web
site. Haven't updated that thing for too long. Have to dust off my ftp
program.

Most news servers will not allow you to post binaries to a text group.
They get sent straight to the trash.
