Looking for recommendations for the above. PCI express. The dual monitor is
for later, maybe. New monitor is 22" WS with 1680 x 1050 res. No gaming
involved, just a lot of graphics like spreadsheets, flow charts, etc. Running
dual-core Dell with XP Home-SP2. Of course, price matters big time. Current
card is RadeonX300 SE 128MB HyperMemory and it only supports 1280 x 1028.
Thanks, Steve T.

Are you running ATi Catalyst drivers? There should be a checkbox call
"reduce DVI frequency for high-resolution displays" or something to that
effect. It will allow your card to run at 1680x1050, albeit at 50 Hz instead
of 60 or 75 Hz.

My ATI X800XL support 1680X1050
So I would guess any ATI 800 series would support 1680X1050.
If your going to be going dual LCD in the future, then get a graphics card
with dual DVI.

Have you loaded the correct/latest inf file for the monitor?
I would assume your 22' WS came with a CD, which should have
the inf file on it.

What would the correct/latest inf file do? It did come with an installation
CD but without an acceptable card, I have not installed yet. Thanks, Steve
T.

I'm assuming your Device Manager has the monitor listed as "Plug & Play
Monitor".
It might be telling your graphics card that the monitor can not go above
1280X1024.
What is the manufacturer and model of the 22" monitor?

I have not hooked it up because I do not have a compatible card so I don't
know what DM will say. And yes my card won't go past 1280 X 1024. The
monitor is an Acer AL2216W. Steve T

Your card WILL go past that resolution,
just NOT without using the right .inf file.

The reason they GIVE you a 'driver' disk with the monitor
is to make it EASY to set it up, USE IT!

Thank you. I download the driver and will install. I checked the provided CD
but all it has is the user manual. No drivers or software included. Thanks
again, Steve T.

It all works on the Dell. Thank you. The display properties box does go all
the way to 1680 x 1050. Quick question, will this driver work on a PC that
has integrated video and no card? I have a Gateway with XP Home SP-2 and
MCE. There's plenty of CPU, RAM and HD. Thanks to all again, Steve T.

Does not mater if integrated or not, the monitor inf drivers tell the video
card what
resolutions and refresh rates the monitor (CRT/LCD) will work with.
