Dual homed XP one interface dynamic IP

I have an XP machine with two network interfaces. One interface is
connected to my ISP and has a Dynamic IP address, DNS etc.

The other network interface is conneted to my internal network which
has my network printer on it. This interface does not need to be
dynamic, and I have assigned it an appropriate IP address.

Each time the lease on my external address expires I can no longer get
through to the intenet. To correct this I need to change the internal
network card IP address to dynamic, wait a short time and then
re-assign a static address.

Can anyone tell me what is going on, I have written a script to fix it
but I would still like to get rid of it.

Regards

Dave

Are you using an ICS? Ensure LAN connection is higher in the binding list at
Network menu Advanced/AdvancedSettings. Post 'ipconfig /all'.

I hope there is no bridge as Robert mentioned but you don't want posting
"ipconfig /all". Just curious what else you got in the internal segment and
how it's connected to the Internet.
Jump from this W2k NG to windowsxp.network_web group and continue discussing
there.

No Bridge, a very simple interal lan connected directly to a single
printer via cross over cable. The internal segment does not connect to
the internet only to the dual homed PC.
