Dual Graphics

Is it better to use 2 graphic cards for dual monitors or would a single
graphics card with VGA and DVI do the same thing?
 
Depends what you want to run.
I've always run a dual capable card, other people run quad capable cards
It can be difficult to get two cards to coixist, but this also depends on
your mobo and the cards.
 
Dual head cards are best.. analogue adapters are available to convert DVI..
 
So either or would do the same job? nothing extra it will do with 2 video
cards installed?
 
A dual head card is supplied with software that makes to screens workable in
a variety of ways.. there is software available from 3rd parties that will
do this, assuming that you can get two video cards to play in the same ball
park.. personally, the dual head card is a better choice..
 
If they do the same job then I'll just stick to the dual head card, the mobo
does take 2 separate graphic cards

The single card is likely faster as AGP slots are only one per
machine.

Get two cards of the same family, same manufacturer and I've yet to
see it not work.

The single card will be cheaper, and they usually work fine.

Unless you want to drive 3 or 4 or more monitors, the single cards to
do THAT are spendy. Thats the situation where you want multiple cards.
