Hi all

One of the Dual Gigabit LAN port in my mother IP35 Pro suddenly
stopped working. It was used go to the router for another computer to
log on the Internet. I have disabled the port which is #1 according
to BIOS. Now I am using Ethernet card for that.

I have updated the BIOS long time ago, so it is not BIOS update which
did it.

How can I can it work again. Thanks

If you thought it's the BIOS, you'd better email the distributor's
technical support.

Are you sure that you didn't disable the port at Device Manager or alike?

Does the LED of the port in question light up?

I did not disable it in the BIOS, and yes the LED of the port in
question does not light up. Thanks.

Many thanks for your suggestions. Cheers

Uninstall the driver in Add/Remove programs, or in Device
Manager if the driver does not show up in Add/Remove
programs, reboot, and reinstall driver.

If that does not work, pull the ethernet cable and inspect
the port socket for dust or residue buildup. If still no
luck, try a different ethernet cable and different switch
(or router, etc) port. Note if there is any change in the
connection lights lighting up on the board and the
switch/router/whichever.

Windows is known to crap itself and need fixed so the
software side is definitely a possibility, but another
thought is that the port itself may be blown due to a power
surge, and I mean it could be the motherboard port or it
could be one of the switch or router ports. You can swap a
different system's ethernet cable to the switch or router
port in question, power cycle the router or switch, then see
if the port in question works.

Don't bother with the prior poster's suggestion to email the
distributer's tech support, Abit is no longer making boards
and their support is nothing more than a token gesture to
keep what past support they had, online to some extent.

Ethernet cards are cheap, since it had dual ports and you
now have a card in it, all the above may be unnecessary and
not worth the effort, some system faults are not as
important to fix as others especially when you can toss a
cheap card in to get back the functionality needed.
