Dual display won't quit

I was knocked out (with joy) when I got
Windows XP to support (1) a laptop display
simultaneously with (2) a VGA monitor. Now
I can't seem to get back to just #1.
This is a problem because some 'windows'
(e.g. my defrag window) always come up
on the VGA window, EVEN when it is
Not Attached!

How do I "remove" the VGA window?

check through the advanced setting for your graphics card to see if there
ias anything related to window spanning and if so disable it. that may stop
your apps displaying on a monitor which isn't present.

I've noticed a little "bug" which does not happen ALL the time......
but still does happen.
When you close a window while still present on the second monitor,
windows will only REOPEN it on the second monitor ( it becomes
associated with it)......... even if it's been disabled. You might
want to just connect the second monitor to lanch, move, and reclose
the app on the primary screen.

Common practice drilled into my head from using duel monitors for over
5 yrs is to never close a screen on the second monitor, and allways
drag it back to the primary one before closing.

Although I'm not sure about this (somebody feel free to correct
me)............ my guess is that since your laptop is not a physical
part of your main pc (but an external extension), to TRULEY disable
it, you may mave to unistall it as a display adaptor from the device
manager.
