Hi all,

Just bought a new amd 4400 x2 dual cpu to compliment my X1800XT (PE BIOS) -
I'm new to ati but understand the 5.12 driver onwards supports dual CPU (not
GPU) optimization...How do you set it to work or is it auto?

Thanks all - really pleased I moved from Nvidia - really impressed with new
card

It's auto... as far as I know. Not that it really matters, though. Most
games are (and continues to be) video card-limited at the resolution and
AA-levels we want to play at. Having an extra CPU core doesn't help much.

I don't know how your arrived at your new X2 system. If you put it
together yourself with a pre-existing OS you had previously, (like
me), the X2 needs XP's service pack 2 to utilize the AMD's second
processor. Also you need an inf package from AMD that has the
processor info the OS needs to name and configure the new type of CPU.
Once you put that all together the CPU works great, with 2 processors
showing.
Sorry I don't know anything about the X1800XT. I have a X600 and had
to play around with the drivers to get a decent configuration. The
driver that it came with crashed the system. It works well now though
after I downloaded a newer driver.
My motherboard is an ECS and the cpu is the AMD X2 3800.

Steve
