I just got a new AMD X2 4200 system... I've been looking for some kind
of tool that gives me a bit of info about what each CPU is doing... IE
if I boot up a few programs I'd like to see which CPU is doing what,
how much memory each cpu is using, how much load each cpu is under...
etc etc.... Any suggestions?

If you are using Linux the tool you want is gnome-system-monitor, don't
know if Windows has an equivalent.

Have you checked the AMD website for the dashboard demo/cool n' quiet
monitor?

If you're running Windows XP, just fire up Windows Task Manager and
select the 'performance' tab. With a dual core you get two windows for
CPU usage instead of just one. Very interesting and informative. I'm
amazed, after reading all the diatribes here about how there is no
advantage to dual core cpu's with current single threaded apps, to see
that just about ANYTHING you run the system drives both cores almost
equally. I think people forget just how much system related stuff is
going on in the background when they run something, and it gets spread
around between the cores. Even running Prime95 to heat up the system
ran both cores almost equally.

Another *nix zealots joins the killfile.

They all live in a world where they think that *nix is the answer to all the
worlds problems, and that they are immune from viruses.

Sad lot, they are!

Another retarded m$ loser that spends 2000$ for a faster computer instead
of using a faster 64 bit distribution.

You have to expect that posting "no Linux, poor guy" after some
incomprehensible jibberish will be pretty rude and not bring loving
responses.

Ah, terms like "start here" and "folder" are instead crystal clear when
talking about computers. Good to know.
Tomorrow I'm gonna open up some old VAX hardware. I'm wondering where
those mysterious folders are.

OK. You've proved you're real smart. A command line genius. Can we move on.

You do not mention what operating system you are running.
Under FreeBSD/NetBSD/Linux etc., run xosview or gnome-system-monitor.
Under Windows 2000/XP the task manager can show load per CPU.
(It may show a combined graph, but you can toggle it to one per CPU)

I'm not showing off.

I don't need a command line much these days.

Are you jerking off right now to a DOS prompt? Oooh, I bet you know how to
get it to blink, and in color too. Don't get too much spooge on your
keyboard. Or is it a console?

Well, I did get A's in junior college in all my computer courses, and one
teacher thought I should teach, and a lab assistant thought I should be a
technical writer.

Sorry if some of us thought you were mocking us -- it looked like it. You
could have put in a :-) or something.

However, since your mention of sexual fluids is a bit off-topic and
irrational, I will be filtering out your posts.

My God,

Computers is tending to be a fundamentalist thing. A new religion is not
only born, but dangerousely developing. And this does not only concerns this
NG. It's probably something we mortals have in our genes. Something like
"What I believe is true and do not try to say else". Religion in it's wide
meaning is again the root of almost all evil. Intolerance!

Excuse me for being so very OT, but I got this strong urge to express.

Have a nice day,

Lane from NL

Are you jerking
Now who's that? Yet another m$ moron? I'm amazed. How comes they could
push keyboard at random if they are even unable to walk on a straight line?

Oh dear. I've yet to filter all of the enraged Linuxers out, it seems.

Though I won't see your next post, I assure you that you have accomplished
great things, and may look at others from above, as they scurry about in
ignorance.

BTW "Directories" are a myth. Old heads want to see if you're faking when
they say that.
