Dual core vs. Core 2 Duo. What is the difference?
thanks

Dual core is a general term. It means that the CPU in question has
two CPU cores. Basically, like having two individually functioning
CPUs in the same chip package. The specific design determines what
system resources the CPUs share.

"Core 2 Duo" is the brand name of a dual core CPU design from Intel
Corporation.

The difference is the same difference between "Ammonia Window Cleaner"
vs "Windex"

Intel's original dual core CPU's ('Core Duo') are different than their just
released new dual core, 'Core 2 Duo'. The new version runs calculations
much faster and it is much more energy efficient, thus running much cooler.

ok that's what I didn't understand.
My friend recently bought a laptop that has a T2400 duo core yet I see Intel
has just released a brand new processor called basically the same thing! So
the new one is just a faster, cooler running version then but both have 2
cores? That really is confusing.

Originally.Intel came out with dual core to compete with AMD's dual core
CPU's.But AMD's versions were faster. So Intel developed the Core 2 Duo to
take back the lead.
