I guess pretty much all windows users must be familiar with
the system hang-ups that can/do happen, when you insert
a CD or DVD that cannot be read by the drive, or that can
only be read with difficulty. The whole windows system
freezes for a period of seconds or minutes until the optical
disk can be recognised or is removed from the drive.
My question is, if you have a dual-core machine, do you
still have this behaviour? Or is it possible for one core to
occupy itself with the optical drive/disk while the other one
remains responsive to the user?
Many thanks, David
