Dear all

I have troubles to understand the manual about the DIMM 's positions .
The purpose is to have the two identical Apacer ( model 78.91066.460-SS
DDR2 ) 512 MB DIMM's arranged for DUAL-Channel ( optimal for
video-mixing jobs ? )
configuration . Do I have to plug them
in the two blue A1 and A2 or one in the blue A1 en the second in the black
B1 position ?
Thanks

I just looked at the P5GD2 manual, and the section describing the
installation of DDR DIMM modules is terrible.

I recommend you get a copy of memtest86 from memtest.org.
The memtest86 program will require a blank floppy, and the
program will format the floppy for you. You can then boot the
computer from the floppy. Memtest86 is a memory test program,
and there is a "bandwidth indicator" in the upper left hand
corner of the screen.

Using memtest86, you can now compare the operation of A1+B1
versus using A1+A2. The configuration which gives the highest
bandwidth reading is the dual channel configuration. I would
hope the BIOS actually displays "dual channel" somewhere in
the interface, but it doesn't have to be so.

To see an example of what memtest86 looks like, there is a
picture here. Main memory bandwidth is the line:

"Memory : 255M 2442MB/s"

Try measuring the A1+A2 configuration, versus the A1+B1
configuration. Please post the results for other users
of the P5GD2.

I am happy I am not the only person to understand the manual !!
